Table Mountain’s Tablecloth
During the summer months, Table Mountain is best admired in all its magnificence against the blue backdrop of clear Cape skies. Ironically, it’s these cloudless days that create the mountain’s legendary white tablecloth suddenly casting over the “table”. The ancient San saw the tablecloth as if God is smothering the mountain blaze with a massive white “animal skin”.Or is it the tablecloth the mother city prepares the table with to welcome all visitors? We surely should be thankful for all these maids keeping it fresh and clean

Storytelling has always been at the centre of Claus's work.
After many years in advertising, creating stories for international brands, he found a new source of inspiration in the streets, people and daily life of Cape Town.
The Cape Town Stories collection explores a city known for its extraordinary contrasts. Working primarily in black and white pencil, Claus creates highly detailed drawings that reveal the humour, contradictions, beauty and complexity that define contemporary Cape Town.
Some works are playful, others thought-provoking. Many invite viewers to pause, look again and discover details that might initially have gone unnoticed.
Each artwork tells its own story, but rarely offers a single interpretation. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own experiences and imagination to the work, discovering narratives that are uniquely their own.
The collection is displayed throughout Himmelblau and forms an integral part of the character of the house.
All artworks are available for acquisition as either original pencil drawings or limited-edition fine art prints in a range of sizes, allowing visitors to take home a personal piece of Cape Town's visual storytelling.
